In 1878, woman fought for their rights to vote. They wanted equal rights as the men. To do that they went through many complications. They fought long and hard to get what they wanted and did not stop. Alice Paul, Susan B. Anthony and many other woman went through multiple complications while fighting for their rights. The woman stood outside of the White House for days, protesting and holding up signs that indicate that they're there and not leaving until someone gives them attention on woman's suffrage. Sooner or later that act got some woman into many problems. Many fights broke out and people were hurt. but that didn't stop those woman from standing by the gates of the White House. People, particularly men, who walked by the woman, thought they were ridiculous and crazy for wanting woman to have the right to vote. Eventually, the woman were arrested and put into prison. While they were in prison the woman refused to eat or even drink to prove a point. As time went on in jail the prison was afraid that the woman were going to die in their custody so they decided to force feed the woman. Which you see in the picture above. Many of the woman went through multiple complications which took them a while to figure out exactly how to accomplish getting the 19th amendment passed.
